- Description
- In support of the Small Tactical Electric Power (STEP) Program and on behalf of the Program Manager-Mobile Electric Power (PM-MEP), the US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM), Communication and Electronics, RD&E Center (CERDEC ), Command and Control Directorate (C2D), Army Power Division, Power Generation Branch, Fort Belvoir, VA is performing a market survey of commercially available solutions to reducing the audible noise signature of an open frame generator set through the po tential development of a custom soft sound enclosure. The PM-MEP is interested in commercially available materials capable of meeting the environmental requirements of the Army, while reducing the overall noise signature of open frame generators. The soft sound enclosure shall withstand the following extreme environmental conditions without deterioration: temperatures ranging from -70?F to 160?F, rain of up to 5 inches per hour, 355 BTU/sq. ft. of solar radiation (at 125?F), ice glaze, freezing rain, and hoarfrost, and salt fog or sea spray environment. The CERDEC Power Generation Branch is interested in obtaining White Papers, not exceeding 10 pages in length, describing the contractors experience in development, fabrication and test of these materials, detailed information about the recommended materia ls and corresponding manufacturing processes, and a Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) unit cost for potential future government procurements. The data received in response to this RFI is for information purposes only and does not mandate or impose requirements. It is desirable that data be received with unlimited rights to the Government. However, we recognize that proprietary data may be includ ed with the information provided.
