Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. National Institute on Drug Abuse, Office of Acquisitions- Neurosciences, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition, on behalf of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a noncompetitive basis to Children?s Specialized Hospital, 150 New Providence Road, Mountainside, New Jersey 07092 for the requirement of Assessment and Screening of Autism Spectrum Disorders under the NIMH Project entitled Clinical and Immunological Investigation of Regression in Autism. The current investigation will focus on the interrelationship between regression in autism and immune dysfunction. Specifically, Children?s Specialized Hospital will characterize and validate the regression phenotype in children with autism; to characterize the immune response in children with autism, and to identify the neurobiologic markers for autism through the techniques of metabolomics, proteomics and genomics. The protocol number is 05-M-0225. Children?s Specialized Hospital provides clinical assessment and care to more than 1,00 children with autism in New Jersey. There is a continual recruitment of young patients and followup. This allows Children?s Specialized Hospital to follow these patients for periods of time. This reduces the time due to recruitment and related expenses. An award to any other source would affect the NIH prior and current research involving the recruitment and evaluation of very young child with autism and would not provide any cost savings to the Government. Period of Performance will be 12 months. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 541690 and the Size Standard is $6.5 million. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR 13 procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
