Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, in Parma, Idaho, has a requirement for a portable photosynthesis unit. USDA ARS will be using the portable photosynthesis unit to perform measurement of wine grapes in support of agricultural research. RFQ?s can be obtained by fax or mail to the attention of Bobbie McNicol as listed in this notice. Proposal will be evaluated based on the end use of the Portable photosynthesis unit. Set Aside for Small Business Concerns. The portable photosynthesis unit must meet the following criteria: 1. ?Open?, ?True differential? system. (Open means gas flows through sample cuvette. True differential means simultaneous measurement by 4 independent gas analyzers). 2. Analyzers: Four independent, non-dispersive infrared analyzers, for simultaneous measurement of CO2 and H20 (i.e. not gas switching?) with microprocessor control of linearization (1.0% of range). a. Measurement ranges CO2: 0-2,000 μmol mol-1 (optimal), 0-9,999 μmol mol-1 (maximum). Precision: 0.2 μmol mol-1 at 300 μmol mol-1; 0.5 μmol mol-1 at 1750 μmol mol-1; 3 μmol mol-1 at 9999 μmol mol-1 b. H2O: 0-75 mb (maximum= dew point at ambient temperature). Precision: 0.015mb at 0mb; 0.02mb at 10 mb; 0.03 mb at 50 mb. c. Automatic zero capability facility for long-term stability and accuracy of analyzers. (corrects for sample cell contamination, dirty optics, and drift in electronics). d. Built-in self-calibration for CO2 and H20. 3. Cuvette: Automatic, independent control of CO2, H2O, temperature and light; with optional Chlorophyll Fluorescence Module. Unit can be pre-programmed to vary one or all (CO2, H2O, temperature and light) system parameters. a. Non-contact leaf temperature measurement IR sensor. Accuracy: ?0.3 ?C at 25 ?C. b. PAR sensors: fully cosine corrected. Response: 400-700 nm, Range 0-3000 μmol m-2 s-1: precision: 10 μmol m-2 s-1. c. Air Temperature sensor: linearization: ?0.10 from 0? to 60 ?C. Accuracy: ?0.3 ?C at 25 ?C. d. Cuvette air supply unit i. CO2 (0-2,000 μmol mol-1) (18 hr CO2 cartridge, built-in CO2 regulator unit) Ext. gas supply up to 2,500 cm3 min-1. ii. H2O regulation (0-dewpoint) via gas mixing, driers, and equilibrator unit. iii. Up to 500 cm3 min-1 ambient air (controlled by a mass flow meter). e. Light Control: integrated red/blue LED light source (For use with internal batteries). f. Temperature control: Integrated temperature control. Range: 10? C below ambient to 50? C. g. Chlorophyll Fluorescence Module: i. Light Sources: 1. Modulating beam 627 nm (Red). 2. Actinic Light: Red and White LED?s range 0-2000 μmol m-2 s-1; 3. Saturation Light: Red and White LED?s range 0-6000 μmol m-2 s-1; 4. Far Red Light: 2 x 735 nm LED?s. ii. Detector: photodiode with > 700 nm filter. iii. Leaf area: 2.5 cm2 iv. Measurement parameters: Fo, Fm, Fv, Fv/Fm (Max Yield), Fs, Fm, Fo, qP, qNP, NPQ PAR, Temp and ETR v. Dimensions not to exceed: Light Unit: 60 (W) x 60 (L) x 45 (H) mm. Control Board: 180 (L) x 11 0(W) mm. vi. Weight not to exceed 390 g h. Boundary Layer Resistance: 0.15 ? 0.32 m2 s-1 mol-1 i. Range of optional cuvettes and chamber sizes available for soil respiration, canopy photosynthesis and whole plant/branch photosynthesis. 4. Unit can be used as a stand-alone CO2/H20 infrared gas analyzer. 5. Data Acquisition, Analysis, and Control Software. a. Integrated, Windows based PC. (Full windows software supplied to work with lab PC). b. VGA Display (640 x 480 resolution, 256 colors). c. Pre-programmable, logging selectable intervals between 1 and 250 minutes. d. FLASH RAM data storage with PCMCIA slot. e. On-line System Diagnostics. f. Numeric keypad. g. USB and RS232 interfaces. 6. Power: a. Internal, rechargeable batteries provide power to entire system. b. Batteries provide up to 10 hours of field operation and system software displays battery status. c. Instrument shut down not required for changing batteries in the field. 7. Response time: Electrical (0.5 seconds); Display/Analog Output (1.6 seconds); Pneumatic < 5 seconds. 8. Air Sampling: 50-110 cm3 min-1 with reference pumps each fitted with mass flow controllers. 9. Environment Sensor inputs: 3 input channels. Integral conditioning of % RH, temperature, and PAR sensors. 10. Analog output: 4 outputs, voltage from 8-bit D/A converters giving 0.5% resolution user selectable concentration range from 0-5 V. 11. Operating environment: 0 ? 45 ?C, non-condensing. 12. Case: a. High impact, weather resistant for field use. b. Dimensions: not to exceed 290 mm W x 199 mm D x 110 mm H. 13.
