Description
The BEP is interested in receiving information on commercially available real time electronic printed sheet inspection systems that will meet our specified requirements. These devices will be installed on the KBA-Giori Cope Pak presses in both the Washington, DC and Fort Worth, TX facilities. If successful, we estimate a total quantity of twelve machines. These systems will verify the presence, positioning, accuracy, and integrity of all the typographic features of the United States currency overprinted on the Cope Pak presses. These include serial numbers, seals, and Federal Reserve designation letters and numerals. The inspection system must provide real-time inspection, determine product suitability, communicate inspection results via a Cope Pak interface, externally/visually display results to alert the press operator of errors and automatically collect all inspection results in a a Comma Separated Value (CSV) data file. Solicitations are not available at this time, and as such any request for a solicitation will not receive a response. This request for information is part of our market research to determine interest and capability of potential sources for this requirement. All information submitted in response to this announcement is voluntary; the Government will not pay for information requested nor will it compensate any respondent for any cost incurred in developing information provided to the Government. This information will help the Government determine the commercial availability of these systems and the terms and conditions under which they are normally sold. Interested parties should send comments on the draft specification and questions regarding this requirement by the Close of Business (COB) February 15, 2006 to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), Office of Procurement, Attn: Donald Baron, 14th and C Streets, S.W., Room 705-A, Washington, D.C. 20228-0001, phone at 202-874-3143, or e-mail to donald.baron@bep.treas.gov.
