Description
The U.S. Army, RDECOM-ARDEC is seeking sources for procurement of a commercial Spare Barrel Bag for use with the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) and M240B Medium Machine Gun. The M249/M240B Spare Barrel Bag provides the capability for expeditiously storing and transporting spare weapon barrels, along with other items required to support the operational mission requirements of the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon and the M240B Machine Gun. Operational requirements include the ability to transport extremely hot weapon barrels, various ground mount hardware, ancillary items, and ammunition magazines all at once in a single bag. The Barrel Bag is required to be fabricated predominately from a high temperature, heat resistant cloth material suitable for repeated, direct contact with hot machine gun barrels without degradation to the material. The exterior surface of the Barrel Bag shall be available in Army Digital Camouflage and/or Marine Coyote 498 pattern. The Barrel Bag shall contain an exterior pocket running the length of the bag segregated into two compartments approximately seven inches deep and have a secure closure. The Barrel Bag shall have two interior compartments running the length of the Barrel Bag capable of holding M249 or M240B barrels and various ground mount hardware securely enough that they won???t fall out during transport. The Barrel Bag shall have provisions to carry it with one hand and shall also have a sling attached to the Barrel Bag with a padded collar to permit easy carrying on the shoulder. The Barrel bag shall be capable of being folded and secured with external fasteners to permit easier carrying. The item is required to be commercially available for rapid procurement and shipment. The contractor must be able to sustain a delivery schedule of 3,000 to 4,000 per month for the M249/M240B Spare Barrel Bag. Interested Parties must also be capable of providing a quantity of barrel bags within 30 days after award of a contract for First Article Testing should the government decide to release a solicitation at a later date. All responsible interested sources are encouraged to submit their capabilities/qualification data in regard to the above no later than two (2) weeks from date of this notice to Commander, U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, ATTN: AMSTA- AQ-APD, Robert Chung, Bldg. 10, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. Please include company name, address, telephone number, technical point of contact, brochures/literature. This is only a Market Survey, not a pre- solicitation notice. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published.
