Description

Work under these specifications include: 1) mobilization and preparatory work; 2) design, installation, and removal of scaffolding and access platforms; 3) removal and replacement of the bottom and side seals on the three 42' X 30' steel radial gates; 4) installation and removal of a hazardous material containment system; 5) removal of existing coatings from and recoating of the exterior surfaces of the three 42' X 30' steel radial gates, surfaces of the gate arms, seal mounting surfaces, all steel seal assembly parts, stoplog guides, the metalwork on the underside of the hoisting equipment deck, counterweights and counterweight guides, floatwell covers, floatwell drain covers, hoist covers, stoplog covers and supporting beams, floatwell metalwork, and embedded metalwork on the spillway gallery grating; 6) removal and recoating of deteriorated areas of the coating system on the interior of the radial gates; 7) installation of air vents on the radial gates; 8) installation of drainage holes at the bottom of the radial gates and on the trunnion pin blocks; 9) inspecting the wall plates, sill plates, seal bars, and front skin plate for the radial gates; 10) removing and replacing the hail screen on the radial gates; and 11) the disposal of waste and hazardous waste materials from the jobsite. Work associated with this job cannot begin until after July 15th due to the presence of Cliff Swallow nests located on the Trenton Dam spillway gate and bridge deck support structures. Cliff Swallows are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, with a specified timeframe of April 1 - July 15 recognized as the nesting period when nests are protected due to the probability that eggs are/or vulnerable young are present in the nests. Trenton Dam is located approximately 25 miles west of McCook, Nebraska near the town of Trenton, Nebraska in Hitchcock County. The price range for the work is $500,000 - $1,000,000. The solicitation package will be available on or around February 21, 2006. Bid opening is tentatively scheduled for March 21, 2006 at the Bureau of Reclamation's Great Plains Regional Office, 316 North 26th Street, Billings, Montana. Faxed bids WILL NOT be accepted. There is no charge for the first copy of the solicitation; additional sets will be provided upon receipt of a nonrefundable check or money order of $9.00 per set. All reasonable sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the Bureau of Reclamation. The North American Industrial Classification Code is 238320. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 1711. The Small Business Size Standard is $12 Million. This acquisition is unrestricted. The specifications and drawings will not be posted to the internet; however a complete solicitation package is available in hard copy. The request must include contractor's name, address, phone/fax numbers, Federal tax identification number and their Dun and Bradstreet number.
