- Description
- This Market Survey/Sources Sought notice is amended to clarify that this is NOT a developmental contract. This is a production contract. The design is finalized for this requirement, so the market survey has been redrafted to read as follows: The U.S. Army, ARDEC at Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. is conducting a market survey to identify sources that are capable of manufacturing a lightweight composite cylindrical container via compression molding. The container is used for storing and transporting a single 120mm mortar cartridge. The container is made out of Quantum QC-8800 composite material capable of withstanding storage and transportation scenarios within a temperature range of -65 deg F to +160 deg F. The container contains two pieces, a tube and cap held securely by a latching mechanism that allows quick access to the cartridge. Fitting of the cap on the tube provides the ability to maintain a 3PSIG seal throughout the use of the container. The weight of the container is approximately 7.6 lbs. Potential candidates must possess the production line manufacturing tooling, inspection fixtures, automated acceptance test equipment, technical knowledge and expertise required to fulfill this requirement within a delivery timeframe which is expected to be 15 months after contract award. All responding sources shall provide a summary of their company's capabilities including organizations, name/address/point of contact identification, a description of facilities/equipment, manufacturing process, inspection capability, personnel, past experience, proven monthly production capacity, possible partnering/teaming arrangements; and whether the company is a small or large business. The market survey is for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a request for proposal or as an obligation on the part of the government. The Government will utilize the information provided for planning purposes only. All information submitted will be provided at no cost to the government and will be held in a confidential status. The contractor shall provide all information requested in this notification within fifteen days of this publication by electronic mail to mgomez@pica.army.mil
