- DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) on behalf of the Product Manager Bridging, Countermine Division is seeking informational white papers for the procurement of the U.S. Armys Mine Protec ted Clearance Vehicles (MPCV). The purpose of this announcement is to investigate if there are available sources to produce and field an MPCV. The technical requirements are subject to change. A Request For Information (RFI) and questionnaire are publis hed at http://contracting.tacom.army.mil/ssn/sources.htm under Buyer & Program Manager Market Surveys to gather industry input. The RFI is provided as a general guideline and does not, in any way, mandate or impose requirements. PM Bridging does not inte nd to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for information solicited herein. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT: The MPCV system is a blast protected vehicle platform that will operate in explosive hazardous environments. It will support Fu ture Engineer Force (FEF) Clearance companies in route and area clearance operations, and Explosive Hazards Teams in explosive hazards reconnaissance operations. The primary function of the MPCV is to provide a blast resistant platform to protect Soldiers and their equipment during interrogation and classification of suspected explosive hazards. The MPCV should provide operator and crew survivability against threats such as ballistics, AT mine blasts and IED blasts. The MPCV must also provide the capabil ity for the operator to interrogate a suspected explosive hazard from inside the vehicle.
