DESCRIPTION: The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) on behalf of the Product Manager Bridging, Countermine Division is seeking informational white papers for the procurement of the U.S. Armys Interim Veh icular Mounted Mine Detection Systems (IVMMD). The purpose of this announcement is to investigate if there are available sources to produce and field the IVMMD. The technical requirements are subject to change. A Request For Information (RFI) and questi onnaire are published at http://contracting.tacom.army.mil/ssn/sources.htm under Buyer & Program Manager Market Surveys to gather industry input. The RFI is provided as a general guideline and does not, in any way, mandate or impose requirements. PM Brid ging does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for information solicited herein. DESCRIPTION OF REQUIREMENT: The IVMMD system is a blast protected vehicle mounted mine detection and lane proofing system that will operat e in explosive hazardous environments. It will support Future Engineer Force (FEF) Clearance companies in route and area clearance operations, and Explosive Hazards Teams in explosive hazards reconnaissance operations. The IVMMD should provide protection to the operator from threats such as ballistics, AT mine blasts and IED blasts. The IVMMD must locate not less than 86 percent of both on-route surface laid and on-route buried metallic anti-tank mines. The IVMMD should also be transportable by rail, sea lift, highway, air (C-5, C-17, C-130) without disassembly. Further proposed IVMMD capabilities and a more comprehensive system description can be found in the RFI. For questions please contact Brian Wilson at DAMI_WilsonB@tacom.army.mil.
