Description
DESC: The Development & Fielding Systems Group, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH intends to award a contract for brand name specific Microsoft software. The justification, approved in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 6, identifies that this brand name acquisition is essential to the Government's requirements, precluding consideration of a product manufactured by another company. This software requirement is mandated according to AF-CIO Policy Memorandum 04-09. In 2004, the Air Force CIO made the decision to adopt Microsoft applications as the standard for the Air Force. The Microsoft System Management Server (SMS) application is required to comply with the Air Force direction to implement the AF standard tool for desktop management. In accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1(c) and AF-CIO Policy Memorandum 04-09 the Government will be awarding a contract for Microsoft software as follows: Product Quantity AF NC Windows Svr Std Win32 English Lic SA Pack MVL (A0414539) 158 AF NC - Windows Svr Ent 2003 English MVL (A0414623) 9 AF NC SQL Svr Enterprise Edtn English Lic SA Pack MVL 1 Processor License (A0412926) 36 This is not a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation is available. The Government has competitively awarded an Air Force-wide Microsoft Enterprise License Agreement (MS-ELA) to Dell, Inc; this award will be accomplished under the AF ELA. NAICS code: 423430 An ESC Ombudsman has been appointed to consider and facilitate the resolution of concerns from offerors, potential offerors, and others for this acquisition. Before consulting the Ombudsman concerned parties should first address their concerns, issues, disagreements, and/or recommendation to the Contracting Officer for resolution. In addition, AFFARS 5352.201-9101, Ombudsman, will be included in this acquisition's contract.
