Description
STORM DAMAGE TIMBER/WOOD CHIPPING SALVAGE SALE at the Naval Support Activity Crane, Indiana will be sold to the highest bidder. This sale includes cutting and harvesting all usable trees within a designated area as specified in the solicitation documents. In the interest of post harvest cleanup safety a method of on-site whole-tree-chipping will be employed, with the extraction of saw logs being the only exception. This sale consists of a minimum of 17.9 acres of damaged forestland indicated by marked boundary. An estimate of 5,948 board feet per acre is present (Hobson, 1999), thus yielding 106,469.2 total board feet (Doyle Scale) present. A 15% reduction in volume will be assessed due to damage, thus resulting in an estimated volume of 90,498.82 board feet to be removed. An estimate of 60% of the volume is in the form of pulpwood to be chipped and the remaining is designated as saw log volume. An estimate of 8 tons per 1000 board feet, or 125 board feet per ton, will be used to assess the price per ton. Each load of material, both SAWLOGS and CHIPS will be weighed at scales located on center and recorded to assess payment owed. Upon mutual agreement between contractor and contracting officer, additional volumes of saw logs and/or chips outside of the original 17.9 acres can be added. The Government may designate these additional volumes by marked boundary or by using paint to mark additional saw logs. Additional volume will be bought at the original corresponding contract price. Release date is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, December 14, 2005 with a bid opening tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, January 4, 2006. THIS SOLICITATION WILL BE RELEASED VIA THE INTERNET.
