- NAICS Code: 541710 The Mid-Continent Ecology Division (MED) of the National Health and Environmental Research Laboratory (NHEERL), Office of Research and Development (ORD) at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Duluth, MN, is seeking a college student or recent graduate (within 2 years) with a BA/BS degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science or related field at an accredited college/university to provide services under a contractual agreement. A background in analytical chemistry is preferred. The student will work within a multi-disciplinary research team to assist with chemical analyses supporting research on the effects of chemical pollutants on aquatic organisms. The student will be expected to perform laboratory activities such as, cleaning of laboratory glassware, preparation of common reagents, extraction of water, sediment, and tissue samples, and conducting chemical analyses using a variety of analytical instrumentation. The period of performance will begin approximately January 2, 2006 and end approximately December 31, 2006 with an option for an additional 12 month period of performance through December 31, 2007. The optional period of performance will be exercised at the discretion of the Government. It is anticipated that the contractor will work up to 40 hours per week.
