- Description
- The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) requires professional security services at the Headquarters (HQ) Complex (includes the Jamie L. Whitten, South, Cotton Annex and Sidney R. Yates Buildings), Washington, D.C., and the George Washington Carver Center (GWCC) 5601 Sunnyside Ave., Beltsville, MD. The company must provide and support an armed uniformed protective security force for at least 56 security posts, ten of which are manned 24 hours, 7 days a week (estimated 222,095 hours per annum) (number of guards: approximately 160). Current security services for both the HQ Complex and GWCC Facility will expire on May 30, 2006. Requirements: Recruit and retain high quality officers at least 21 years of age with a high school diploma or GED, and must be a United States citizen with at least 5 years of security experience in good physical condition and health; company must be Licensed in the States of Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia to provide security guard services; provide staff interchangeability between HQ and GWCC facilities; provide temporary additional services of up to 5 personnel in support of requirements at additional USDA sites; provide temporary additional services of up to 15 armed personnel on less than 24 hours notice to support ceremonial events and emergency situations at HQ and GWCC; company must be able to obtain a license to operate and have available qualified armed security officers who can respond immediately to USDA?s Level IV Relocation site in the event of a disaster that warrants Continuation of Operations (COOP); company must provide required data to the Government to perform a suitability check to determine that all employees have a reliable and reputable background and sound character; security officers must have the ability to conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner, and use tact and diplomacy when dealing with high level Federal officials and their guests and the general public; further, officers must hold both a valid State of Maryland and General Services Administration (GSA) Security Guard Permit and Weapons Permit and possess a District of Columbia Special Police Commission.
