Description
THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR SOLAR SIMULATOR, CLASS-A. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to answer questions asked before the due date. Question 1. item 1 specifies 1300 watt bulb and a 1.6KW Solar Simulator. I assume this is a 1.6 KW Simulator and running at 1300 watts? Answer: Yes, the solar simulator will handle a 1600 watt lamp so that we may increase our output beyond a 1 solar contant for diverging beams larger than 6 inches. Question 2. item 3 and item 4 specifies aperture set for a 4? lens housing, Since this is a 6? x 6? Simulator, do we configure the apertures to mount on the larger lens housing? Answer: The final lens housing supports a 6 inch lens assembly. Typically, most manufactures use a smaller lens housing, while the beam is diverging, prior to final lens assembly to take advantage of using smaller filters, aperatures, optics and mirrors. If a company wants to use larger apertures, it is okay. The due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on November 2, 2005.
