- Wright Patterson Air Force Base 2005/2006 Sponsorship Opportunities Fun Runs (Nov, December, March & June 2005 & 2006) Wright-Patterson AFB is the mecca of running for the USAF. Each quarter the Fitness Centers hosts at least one fun run for base personnel and family members to participate. Themes and routes vary depending on the season. The fun runs have shown the most potential for growth. Tree Lighting Ceremony (December 2005 & 2006) This year we are celebrating the season with a tree lighting ceremony placing special emphasis on children with parents serving overseas. Our hope is to have each child place a yellow ribbon on the tree for their parent and receive a complimentary gift. Immediately following the tree lighting we will proceed to the Community Center for hot drinks and Santa?s workshop. New Years Eve Celebrations (December 31, 2005) Celebrate the New Year with the folks at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The celebrations are always fun with various ages and interests including the Youth Center, Kittyhawk Bowling and Wright-Patt Club. Wright-Patt Club?s adult evening will include a gourmet dinner, several entertainment choices, party favors, a split of champagne and breakfast. Kittyhawk Bowling Center will open to families for unlimited glow in the dark bowling at Alien Alley, Pizza Buffet, Soda, Party Favors, Games and Prizes. Last but not least for teens is the Youth Center?s New Years Eve Lock In. From 7 pm to 7 am your teen can enjoy the fun with snacks and breakfast provided. Club & Banquet Center Membership Night (Bi-Monthly 2006) A sell out event, bi-monthly, for members and their guests. The Club and Banquet Center pulls out all the stops to thank its patrons. Chef David and his team prepare a delicious complementary buffet with a variety of music and drawings for door prizes to entertain for the entire evening. March Madness Bowling Tournament (March 2006) The Bowling Center, which is a three star facility, offers 20 synthetic lanes with high tech Qubica scoring. The March Madness Bowling Tournament is a fun filled evening with plenty of bowling, prizes and food on hand. The tournament will be comprised of a bracket system to name the champion with no-tap (when bowler knocks down 9 pins it counted as a strike!). March Madness is a fun way to spend the evening for both the accomplished and novice bowler. Kids Safety Day (April 2006) Kids Safety Day brings safety plans and ideas to the youth and families of the Wright-Patterson Community. A bicycle rodeo will kick off the event with bicycle registration and free helmets to the first one hundred children. Throughout the day children proceed through ?safety stations? where they will receive life skills information. A fun filled day for the entire family held in conjunction with ?Month of the Military Child?. Push-Up & Sit-Up Competition (Spring, Summer & Fall 2006) Jarvis Gym hosts the semi-annual Push-Up & Sit-Up competition. Units and individual compete to be best in push-ups and sit-ups. Prizes are awarded with plenty of team and unit spirit throughout the event. Family Summer Fun Travel Fair (May 2006) The Community and Family Center will host a Travel Fair with various travel vendors to provide information on the best vacation packages, travel information and local summer activities. Families can take advantage of having experts on hand to answer all their travel questions. Motorcycle Safety Day (May 2006) Motorcycle Safety Day is an exciting event to promote safety on the roads. The event provides motorcycle operators the opportunity to work together to maximize their skills and reduce their chances of mishaps, and have fun in the process. The day will begin with a safety briefing, a motorcycle ride throughout the base ending in the soccer fields by the Air Force Museum for a motorcycle exposition. In 2004 over 250 motorcyclists cruised the base for a 45 minute ride. Bike to Work Day (May 2006) Community Center Twin Base and Prairies Golf Course Tournaments (May-September 2006) Military and Civilians enjoy playing these challenging 18 hole courses with a wide variety of fast play. Tournaments ranging from match play to scrambles are offered throughout the summer months. Each course has a driving range, practice putting green and a well stocked pro shop. The tournaments include greens fees, cart, practice facilities, meals and plenty of prizes. Summer Reading Club (June ? August 2006) The Base Library has a proud tradition of the Summer Reading Club. This club is open to children ages 2-12, with teens joining the Young Adult Summer Reading Club. Each participant will receive a summer reading log and treasure bag. Each time a child visits the library they will bring their record and for every half hour that is read they will receive a stamp. For every two hours read they will select a treasure from the library treasure chest and after each 10 hours of reading a prize ticket will be enter for the end of the summer?s Grand Prize. This club is a great way to get children excited about reading. Junior Golf Camp ? (June and July 2006) ? The future in golf is right here at Wright Patterson Twin Base and Prairies Golf Courses.
