Description

The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) Patuxent River, St. Inigoes, MD intends to award a sole source contract for two 2.4 M Flyaway Tri-Band Satellite Terminals (FTSAT) and associated equipment in support of DAMI JWICS/JMICS upgrades to V (1) projects. The Government anticipates a Firm-Fixed Price type contract, using FAR 13.5 procedures, with L3 Communications Corporation, 435 Moreland Road, Hauppauge, NY 11788-3926. The North American Industry Classification system (NAICS) Code is 334220 with a small business size standard of 750 people. The required delivery date is 03 January 2006. In accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1 only one responsible source and no other supplies and services will satisfy the agency requirements. This equipment is currently used in other JMICS systems and is the only tri-band satellite terminal to meet both the TROJAN Management Office (TMO and Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) certification requirements. Extensive labor hours, integration costs, and an extensive timeline for DISA and TMO certification would be required if a different vendor?s satellite communication terminal was procured for the DAMI JMICS systems. For these reasons, L3 Communications Corporation is the only source that can provide the required equipment. The reference number for this notice is N00421-06-P-0070.
