Description

Request for Information (RFI) This is not a solicitation for bids/proposals but a Request for Information (RFI). This synopsis is issued for the sole purpose of the 72d Contracting Squadron, Tinker AFB, OK, to conduct Market Research in accordance with FAR Part 10. This effort is to seek qualified sources capable of providing mobile computer assets connected to production systems via the wireless network. This RFI is for market research and planning purposes only. It does not constitute a Request for Proposal nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government will use the information obtained from this RFI to understand the interest and capabilities of the market for this task. The contract type has not yet been determined. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) Code has not yet been determined and the small business set-aside, if any, has not been determined. Request respondents capable of performing this effort furnish a capability package of no more than 20 single-sided pages, to Contract Negotiator, sean.barbosa@tinker.af.mil, no later than close of business, 4:00 pm, 1 Nov 05. Respondent?s ability to perform the functions identified 2. Respondent?s experience in performing similar functions 3. Respondent?s interest in bidding for this work should a solicitation be issued Please include company name, address, telephone number, point(s) of contact with an email address, business size ? NAICS Code, DUNS number, CCR Registration number, Federal CAGE Code and a description of similar contracts. The description should include agency name, contract number, dollar magnitude, performance period and points of contact with current phone numbers. This RFI is not a commercial solicitation per FAR Part 12. Mobile Computing Requirements for the Shop Floor To satisfy the requirements for our shop floor workforce, the use of mobile computer assets connected to production systems via the wireless network is a must. The minimum requirements for the mobile computers are: - Intel based system - Windows operating system (i.e., Tablet PC, Pocket PC, Windows CE, etc.,) - Wireless LAN capable (WiFi compliant) o IEEE 802.11 B/G compatible systems - Device specific capabilities: o Screen size (must be able to display full page technical documents on screen without scrolling) also must be able to view previous page without restarting application. o Screen must be viewable indoors and in direct sunlight. o Device must be CAC (Common Access Card) capable. (Built into the device preferred) o Must support bar code readers (Built in preferred) Wireless Bar code readers as an option. o Battery life: Minimum four hours under heavy use Must be able to exchange batteries without powering down the system. o Keyboard / Mouse and or touch screen for data input. o System weight: 5 lbs or less preferred o Rugged or Semi-Rugged NOTE: For the requirement mobile computer assets include but are not limited to laptops, Tablet XP devices, etc. Questions concerning this RFI or technical requirements addressed herein shall be addressed to Sean Barbosa , at sean.barbosa@tinker.af.mil (fax 405/739-7422).
