Description
Later this fall, the National Park Service intends to issue a Prospectus for a 10-year contract for the pack station operations at Cedar Grove and Mineral King, and the stable operation at Grant Grove. Interested parties are invited to attend a tour of these facilities on September 29 and 30, 2005, prior to placing a bid. This visit is intended to give prospective bidders a chance to examine the property and operation and ask questions of park staff about the contract prior to the facilities closing for the season. The tour of the Grant Grove stables and Cedar Grove pack station will begin at 9:00 a.m. on September 29, 2005, at the Grant Grove Visitor Center in Kings Canyon National Park, and will last no longer than eight hours. The tour of the Mineral King pack station will begin at 10:00 a.m. on September 30, 2005, at the MIneral King Ranger Station in Sequoia National Park and should last no longer than two hours. The drive to the Mineral King Ranger Station averages 1.5 hours from Highway 198 near the town of Three Rivers. These facilities are all seasonal in nature and operate aproximately from May through October of each year (depending upon weather). The current operator of the Cedar Grove pack station and Grant Grove stables has been awarded an extension to operate through December 31, 2005, and has preferential right of renewal. Interested parties should contact Rich Huffman, Concession Management Specialist, at (559) 565-3103 or by emailing rich_huffman@nps.gov, by September 23, 2005 to R.S.V.P. This will be the only organized site visit scheduled before the pack station and stable operaitons close in October.
