Description
Description: Heavy Truck Maintenance Training Devices The Marine Corps Systems Command, Program Manager for Training Systems (PM TRASYS), is seeking information regarding Maintenance Training Devices (MTDs) for heavy trucks. Vehicles such as the USMC Logistics Vehicle System (LVS), Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacment (MTVR), and commercial tractor- trailer are considered heavy trucks. The types of heavy truck MTDs of interest include at least the following: diesel engine trainer, brake system trainer, air brake trainer, steering and suspension trainer, central tire inflation trainer, power train trainer, wheel and hub trainer, power pack trainer, hydraulic trainer, air conditioning trainer, starting system trainer, charging system trainer, lighting system trainer, and electrical system trainer. Generic ?system trainers? vice truck-specific trainers are desired. The government is interested in existing heavy truck MTD products, but companies with existing automotive MTD products like those identified above should also respondto this RFI. The MTDs shall be utilized at USMC formal learning centers. The heavy truck MTDs shall teach mechanical skills and maintenance, removal and replacement of components, troubleshooting to find faulty components, diagnostic procedures, and shall demonstrate system operation and performance. The MTDs can replicate the system mechanically or via a simulation. The government is also interested in heavy truck MTDs that provide instructor- operator control of the MTD via a computer and allow fault insertion, student tracking and monitoring, and the capability to network with other MTDs. The response shall include the following information: - A description and picture of existing MTD(s). - A summary of the contractor?s previous and current experience related to heavy truck MTDs and automotive MTDs, if applicable. - Current MTD pricing and timeframe required to deliver the product(s). The Government?s intention is to determine the types of existing heavy truck MTDs. The government?s decision to release a formal Request For Proposal is contingent upon the quality and quantity of responses generated from this RFI and availability of funding. Closing date for the RFI is 7 October 05. Please respond by email or in writing. All questions and information should be addressed to Annette Pike at (407) 380-4247 or via email at Annette.K.Pike@usmc.mil, PM TRASYS, 12350 Research Parkway, Orlando, FL 32826 or to Michael Miller at (407) 381-8856 or via email at Michael.d.miller@navy.mil, NAVAIR TSD, 12350 Research Parkway, Orlando, FL 32826.
