- Description
- The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, National Institutes of Health, is soliciting proposals to provide research and development of methods for electrically stimulating the vestibular nerve following loss of function from the vestibular endorgans. The objective of this research is to develop methods of electrically stimulating the vestibular nerve, which can provide patient benefit during transient attacks of irregular activity leading to dizziness and/or act as a component of a balance prosthesis. This contract is directed towards animal studies with close ties to clinical applications in human patients in the near future. A five-year, cost-reimbursement type contract is anticipated, with award made on or about September 1, 2006. The solicitation will be issued on or about September 13, 2005, and will be posted on this Web site. Offerors are responsible for routinely checking this Web site for any amendments to the solicitation. Proposals will be due sixty days after the date of issuance of the solicitation. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which will be considered by the Government. See Numbered Note 26.
