Description
The United States ITER Project Office (USIPO), operated jointly by Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) on behalf of the United States Department of Energy, is seeking expressions of interest from institutions and individuals wishing to participate in the United States Contributions to ITER Project. ITER is an international fusion energy research project involving The People's Republic of China, the European Union (represented by Euratom), Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation, and the United States of America, under the auspices of the IAEA. ITER is to be constructed at a European site with first plasma operation commencing in the middle of the next decade. The USIPO is responsible for overseeing the United States contributions to ITER, which will be finalized by multi-lateral negotiations among the ITER parties, and which are more fully described at the USIPO web site, http://www.iter-us.org. Organizations interested in providing materials or services to the USIPO should visit the web site and complete and submit the on-line survey form available there for each area of interest to them. Survey information must be submitted no later than Wednesday, August 31, 2005. Information from the survey will assist the USIPO in the planning to fill senior level management positions and some of the technical support teams necessary to perform R&D and design for provision of the in-kind contributions assigned to the United States as an ITER Partner. This is a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) announcement, not a solicitation. After consideration of response information, the USIPO will issue solicitations for various support requirements. All interested and qualified parties are invited to submit capability statements via the electronic survey form. Only electronic submittals are required or needed -- please do not submit hard copy materials. Questions regarding this announcement may be e-mailed to Ms. Kathleen Lukazik at klukazik@pppl.gov. Telephone inquiries should be directed to Ms. Lukazik at 609-243-2428.
