Description

The US Army R D E C O M Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Charleston Marine Container, Inc., of Charleston, SC, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no ot her supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, for field refrigeration to support Marine Expeditionary Forces of temperature sensitive items. Charleston is familiar with the transportation and handling of dry QuadCons, since they are currently manufacturing Marine Corps dry QuadCons. The Marines need a refrigerated version of the dry QuadCon (QuadCold) to support immediate field refrigeration needs. The US Army Natick Soldier Systems Center intends to procure a proof of concept prototype QuadCold that is partially tested and meets the Marine Corps requirements. QuadCold is a U S M C specific design that includes an insulated Quadcon integrated with a commercial refrigeration unit. Such an effort requires expertise in designing, fabricati on and integration of refrigeration units on containers that meet the Marine Corp operational, functional and developmental test requirements. This effort also requires total familiarity with the Marine Corps owned containers, refrigeration assets and iss ues related to integration of these refrigeration units on these containers.
