- Contractor shall remove and dispose of the exiting air handler serving the operating rooms and misc. administrative space and install new government furnished air handler. Exiting chilled water and steam supply and return piping with insulation shall be removed to nearest valve and new piping and metal clad insulation to match existing installed. Exiting pneumatic control pipe shall be removed to nearest connection point inside 4W34. Existing electrical service shall be replaced to nearest j-box. New disconnect and remote function switch shall be located on new air handler or exterior wall. Exiting circuits may be reused. Once the air handler is removed the existing frame shall be covered with an 18ga riveted and soldered sheet metal cap. Cap shall extend a minimum of 4? over the existing frame. Flashing shall be repaired as necessary to maintain a water- tight seal. If the existing metal cap is damaged it shall be removed or repaired. The government furnished air handler is located at RRAC?s warehouse and shall be transported to the site by the contractor. Coordinate with John Parks at RRAC for pickup (Ph. 318-635-5269). Install new DX 9100 control panel with electronic controls Panel shall be installed and mapped to existing METASYS energy management controls system to monitor points to match the existing new surgery air conditioning system. Interlocks shall be installed to exhaust fans to maintain current control. Contact Johnson Controls for details and requirements. Exact location of new panel in 4W34 will be determined during construction. All work shall be coordinated with VA Engineering Service prior to removal of any equipment. Work must be scheduled and completed in as little time possible as to prevent major disruption of the surgery area. Provide submittals in accordance with contract specifications. Work shall start when the outside temperature is forecasted to stay below 60 degrees for an extended period of time and be performed starting on Friday and continue until unit is operational. Work hours will be negotiable with some after hour work required.
