- Description
- The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking vendors who can provide anti-virus and SPAM protection software. The product sought must be 100% compatible with the Solaris 9/10 SPARC architecture and Section 508 compliant. In order to effectively monitor, detect, and prevent entry of viruses and SPAM into the Agency?s e-mail infrastructure, SSA requires state-of-the-art anti-virus and SPAM protections software. The following specifications are mandatory requirements: 1)Software must not be on an appliance that has to be inserted into the current architecture; 2)Software must work with Sendmail as the MTA; 3)Software must have a central management function such that changes made to the central management server are automatically propagated to the other servers running the software; 4)Software must include a configurable reporting system to track number of messages, number of viruses, types of viruses, and SPAM catch rates; 5)Software must include real-time virus scanning using an engine that detects 100% of in-the-wild viruses; 6)Software must have the ability to proactively provide protection against viruses variants and SPAM campaigns before detection; 7)Software must include real-time anti-SPAM scanning using both a Bayesian algorithm and configurable rules/policies; 8)Software must be configurable so that no messages are lost (rejected); 9)Software must have a configurable consolidated quarantine; 10)Software must include per-user white/black lists allowing end-users to manage their own email; 11)Software must have an end-user web interface to allow the user to manage white/black lists and quarantined messages; 12)Messages detected as SPAM must be made available to the end-user through a configurable notification process to also include SPAM digesting capability. Section 508 Compliancy: Interested vendors must provide verifiable proof in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to meet the Agency?s requirement, see URL site http://www.ssa.gov/oag/acq/oagacq_508.htm. Any software must be compatible with Federal Government Section 508 standards. Section 508 software standards can be found at www.section508.gov. The software/vendor must meet the following Sections of 508 standards: 1) Section 1194.21 - Software Applications and Operating Systems; 2) Section 1194.22 - Web-based Internet Information and Applications; 3) Section 1194.31 - Functional Performance; and 4) Section 1194.41 - Information, Documentation, And Support. SSA uses the JAWS (speech input / audio output) and MAGic (screen magnification) products from Freedom Scientific Corporation. All software must support these products. Compatibility with Dragon software for mobility impaired individuals is also required. Vendors that believe they can offer a technically compliant product (or one that can be made compliant with minimal modification) are invited to submit information concerning the product?s capabilities. Detailed responses to each of the above requirements (with substantiating documentation) are required. Simple marketing information or incomplete responses will not be considered. Reference to vendor web sites is not considered a valid response. Vendors responding should indicate whether their products are available on the GSA schedule. Respondents should indicate whether their software is available on GSA Federal Supply Schedules or any other Government-wide Agency Contract (GWAC). Please submit product cost and/or pricing data, inclusive of annual maintenance, with your response. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. Respondents will not be notified of any evaluated results from the data received. No contract award will be made on the basis or responses received; however, this information will be used in SSA?s assessment of capable sources. Electronic responses only must be submitted by August 1st, 2005. Faxed information will not be permitted. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. NO FORMAL SOLICITATION IS BEING ISSUED AT THIS TIME. The size limitation for email attachments is 5 megabytes. MS Word 2002 is the standard word processing software. Respondents should refer to SSA-RFI-05-1008.
