Description

The U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC) plans to contract with Alliant Techsystems, Inc, P.O. Box 98, Magna, UT 84044 on a sole source basis this effort entitled Missile Defense Agency/Targets and Countermeasures Directorate Propulsi on Systems Technical Expertise. The proposed acquisition is directed to Alliant Techsystems pursuant to the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) (ii)(A), only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Award to any other source at this time would result in substantial duplication of costs to the Government. The objective of this requirement is to convert Castor IVB motor casings into functional Castor IVB solid rocket motor assemblies, provide flight certificatio n, structure, ballistic, and thermal analyses. The contractor shall provide engineering and program support for technical issue resolution on Castor IVB motors and support system assurance reviews, launch campaign issues, and reliability enhancements. A S ECRET facility clearance is required. The proposed effort will not be opened to foreign participation at the prime contract level.
