Description

The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with Koheras A/S for a Y10 Fiber Laser System. Based on market research, Koheras A/S is the only vendor who can meet the requirements of this procurement. NIST requires a narrow linewidth, tunable fiber laser emitting light at 1118 nm for the purpose of laser cooling singly ionized magnesium. The following specifications define our requirements: 1. Center Wavelength: 1118 nm 2. Linewidth: less than 50 kHz 3. Output Optical Power: 2 W 4. Piezoelectric Tuning range: greater than 15 pm 5. Thermal tuning: greater than 200 pm This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100K). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement.
