Integration requires field shakedown studies and extended field demonstrations that will be logistically supported under this task. Task 2 requires laboratory research and field engineering support for studies of emerging sensors and biotechnology methods. Emphasis is on evaluating chemical and/or biologically based sensors for detection, identification and quantification of single-component and or mixtures of analytes such as pollutants and other environmental contaminants and biological materials. The expected period of performance is for 12 months with four (4) 12-month option periods and will consist largely of on-site support at the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington DC. The contractor shall provide, on a level-of-effort basis, thirty two thousand three hundred (32,300) research and development support hours for the basic award and thirty two thousand three hundred (32,300) research and development support hours for each option, if exercised.
