Description
The Government is seeking professional design services from an architect engineering and healthcare planning services firm to develop working drawings and specifications to improve functions and correct JCAHO cited HVAC deficiencies for Project No. 646-05-114U to Renovate Inpatient Pharmacy, at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, University Drive, Pittsburgh, PA. The services to include but not limited to site investigation, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, asbestos abatement and electrical modification for IV prep and correcting the M&R need for AHU replacement. AE shall develop contract drawings and specifications, provide construction period services which includes review of submissions, RFI?s, and providing recommendations regarding contractor change proposals, visit site per VA's request and add to drawings as-built conditions from contractor's record drawings. A/E will respond on site within a two-hour period when requested. The project involves the development of drawings and specifications for construction to renovate the inpatient pharmacy on the ground floor of Building 1, UD. A/E is responsible for providing certified industrial hygiene services to perform asbestos survey investigations, bulk sampling, development of specifications and drawings, and construction period services. Construction will be addressed in phases to allow operations to continue during construction to the extent possible. Phasing shall be determined during the schematic or 50% design review. Phasing must work within budget and allow the VA to continue operations at a minimal interference. All designs shall be accomplished in accordance with VA guidelines and specifications, which are available on the Internet at http://www.va.gov/facmgt/standard. A/E shall pay particular attention to USAF, NSPA, BOCA, VA Handbook 7610 space criteria and VA Program Guide PG-18-14 "Room Finishes, Door and Hardware Schedule". The architect-engineer will make site visits as necessary to determine existing as-built conditions affecting this project. Note: Information including drawings and other documentation provided to the A/E is used as reference only. All additional references and specifications are available in VHA?s Technical Information Library at address http://www.va.gov/facmgt A/E shall field verify all aspects that relates to the project, coordinate visits with the Project Engineer. The A/E shall arrange for and oversee the performance of topographic surveys, test borings, test pits, soil tests, subsurface exploration and other such investigations as he/she determines are required for the proper design of the project. A/E shall prepare schematic and design development to include drawings, cost estimates, and specifications. A/E will provide four review design sessions: Schematic, 50%, 100% and Final Contraction Documents. Final construction documents to be completed no later than 120 calendar days after notice to proceed. A/E must be proficient in the use of Auto Cad 2005 and Microsoft Word 2000. Estimated cost of construction is $500,000.00 - $1,000,000.00. Those interested firms, both small and large, within the area of consideration shall submit their qualifications and past performance in triplicate on SF 330 (Architect Engineer Qualifications) and for any consultants, on SF 330 Extra Sections E and F to the attention of Kathleen Grundza (Contracting Officer) 04A1-H, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.
