Description
The purpose of this amendment is to provide questions and answers. All other terms and conditions remain the same. Q1. “Must include finite element analysis capabilities” - We have some confusion about this line item. While the 3D data our system produces can be imported into finite element software, this line could be taken to mean that you with for the vendor to provide not only the capability to export the data, but also the Finite Element analysis software itself (NASTRAN or similar.) Could you clarify? If a finite element analysis package is desired (in addition to the ability to export the data as NURB surfaces) is there a particular finite element software that is preferred? We ask because it is unusual to provide the finite element analysis code in a CT system, but we certainly can buy and install such a package if it is required. A1. The Contractor will not be required to provide a stand-alone Finite Element Analysis software package such as NASTRAN. NIST does expect some built-in image analysis tools, and NIST also needs the ability to export the image data to a generic Finite Element format, such as IGES or NASTRAN. A simple conversion to an 8-node brick solid representation of the image data would also be acceptable - although this would require some translation on NIST’s part to make it useful for our purposes. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO WWW.FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (03-JUN-2005); HOWEVER, IT DID APPEAR IN THE FEDBIZOPPS FTP FEED ON THIS DATE.
