- Description
- AGENCY: GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION ACTION: Notice of public meeting. SUMMARY: General Services Administrator Stephen A. Perry testified on March 16, 2005, before the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform regarding the agency's efforts to improve performance by reorganizing and consolidating the General Services Administration?s (GSA) Federal Technology Service (FTS) and Federal Supply Service (FSS) into the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS). In his testimony, Administrator Perry stated: We believe that it is important for organizations that desire to achieve high performance and continuous improvement to periodically review their operations and organizational structures in order to make improvements where possible. He also emphasized that this initiative is designed to: strengthen GSA's ability to meet increasing customer requirements for excellence in the acquisition of information and other products and services; make it easier for industry contractors to understand and use our acquisition process; and enhance the efficiency of GSA?s administrative support functions by consolidating certain activities that are now performed in separate units. This second public meeting, based on the draft plan, is again intended to obtain viewpoints from participants.
