Description
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS ONLY. The USSOCOM Regional Contracting Office RDA is seeking interested sources for the proposed procurement of a Lightweight Multi-Fuel/Diesel Engine for Commercial All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) applications. The engine must be of a size and shape which allows it to be installed into various medium to large (500cc-700cc) sized ATVs. Requirements: To integrate a state-of-the-art technology multi-fuel/diesel engine that is commercially available or available with limited development (low technical risk) into a commercially available ATV. Engine must be compatible with existing commercially available ATV transmissions. The weight of the engine shall not exceed 60 lb (27.2 kg). The engine should provide a minimum of 40 HP and a minimum torque of 80 ftlbs which will be sufficient to tow and haul heavy loads without compromising overall vehicle performance. The engine shall be a multi-fuel (Diesel, JP8, Mogas) capable, operating on these fuels without modifications or changes to the engine. The engine shall be fuel injected. Converted gasoline engine is not acceptable to meet this requirement. Engine maintenance must be performed using common mechanincs tools and diagnostic equipment. Expected engine lifecycle shall be 3x that a conventional (gas powered) engine. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) is 336399. The applicable FSC is 23. In accordance with FAR 15.201(e), a response to this synopsis is not an offer and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. Response to this synopsis is voluntary. The Government will not award a contract on the basis of this synopsis, nor pay for information provided in response to this synopsis. The information will not be returned. Corporate information marked "proprietary" such as non public pricing or bid strategy, will be safeguarded accordingly. The Government requests interested parties to submit/fax a brief, one page description of their company (business size and status (i.e., small business, service disabled veteran owned, disadvantaged, HUBzone, woman-owned) and a description of similar servies offered to the government and to commercial customers. Acknowledgement of receipt will not be issued, nor will respondents be notified of the results of the evaluation of data received. Responses are required by 4:00 PM EST on 15 June 2005.
