- NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for development of a High-Performance Diplexer (HPD) to be utilized in spaceflight applications. The procurement will consist of two phases: (1) an assessment of existing "state-of-the-art" Personal Communications Systems (PCS) base-station and mobile hardware technologies to determine the feasibility of developing a low-mass, small-volume High Performance Diplexer in accordance with the applicable specifications; and (contingent upon the achievement of a successful outcome in Phase I), (2) the design, development, verification, and delivery of an engineering model HPD. The NAICS Code is 334419, and this procurement is a total small-business set-aside. The maximum business size is 500 employees. (See Note 1.) The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. (See Note 26.) All responsible small business sources may submit an offer for consideration by the agency. The anticipated release date of the solicitation is on or about 10 June 2005, with an anticipated offer due date of on or about 10 July 2005. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application. The Internet site, or URL, for the NASA/GSFC Business Opportunities home page is http://www.cbd-net.com/ . Prospective offerors shall notify this office of their intent to submit an offer. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor the Internet site for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any).
