Description

Under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation, Part 6, Subparts 6.301 and 6.302, the U.S. Census Bureau intends to award a follow-on contract to Fibergate Inc., 6076-C Franconia Road, Alexandria, VA 22310 for continued maintenance of existing dark fiber cable lines and the possible installation of other dark fiber segments in support of the Government?s needs. The Census Bureau is contracting for the maintenance of the LEASED dark fiber SEGMENTS previously installed and maintained by Fibergate through the current contract that will expire on October 1, 2005. Due to the Government?s need to ensure that quality services for the transmittal of data between the Census Bureau headquarters and off-site locations is available at the best value, it has been determined that a follow-on contract with Fibergate would be the best vehicle for maintaining the services. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that competition would be advantageous to the government. In doing so, interested sources must submit technical capabilities, pricing , and other information that demonstrates their ability to meet the Census Bureau?s needs. Capabilities will be submitted to Mr. Kennedy at the above email address no later than July 15, 2005. This synopsis is not to be considered a request for quotations or proposals. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be honored. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice, but offers will be used to determine if a comparable source is available and more advantageous to the government. If no affirmative written response is received by July 15, 2005, a contract may be issued to Fibergate Inc. without further notice.
