- Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to negotiate and award a firm fixed price contract modification to contract number N00019-00-D-0179 (T-34/T-44) to include an extension of maintenance and logistics contract services for six months (1 October 2005 through 31 March 2006) and three one-month options (April ? June 2006). In addition, this effort will add the Navy?s T-6 aircraft maintenance services beginning 1 January 2006 through 31 March 2006 and three one-month options (April ? June 2006). The T-34/T-44 contract provides maintenance and logistics services and materials required to support and maintain T-34/T-44 aircraft, including such services as: aircraft maintenance; aircraft line maintenance, launch and recovery; on-site support center; on-site component repair; aircraft depot level repair; quality assurance; aircraft condition inspection (ACI); engine overhaul and repair; propeller overhaul; landing gear overhaul; aircraft modifications; conditional maintenance; technical directive incorporation; detachment support; weekend flying support; support equipment maintenance; aviation life support systems maintenance; material management; engineering support; and satellite site support. The T-6 maintenance services include such services as: aircraft maintenance; aircraft line maintenance, launch and recovery; on-site support center; quality assurance; conditional maintenance; technical directive incorporation; detachment support; weekend flying support; limited support equipment maintenance; aviation life support systems maintenance; and satellite site support. This contract supports Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA) and NAVAIR Program Manager AIR (PMA)-273. The T-34/T-44 and T-6 aircraft are used to train student naval aviators in the fundamentals of single-engine and multi-engine turbo-prop flight for transition to operational fleet aircraft. NAVAIR intends to award this effort to L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace LLC of Madison, MS, under the authority of FAR 6.302.1 (only one responsible source and no other services will satisfy agency requirements). This notice of intent is neither a request for proposals nor a solicitation of offers. A determination not to compete this proposed extension based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
