Description: Notice of intent to procure on a sole source basis an EK 60 Scientif Sounder Gpt-38 kHz split bean operation from Simrad, Inc. For the 2005 US-Canada Pacific Hake Echo Integration-Trawl (EIT) Survey we require a spare SIMRAD EK60 General Purpose Transducer (GPT) for an existing SIMRAD EK60 Scientific Echo Sounder. The EK 60 system is the industry standard for scientific echo sounders and used by all NOAA fisheries acoustics groups. NOAA currently owns an EK 60 system and this 38-kHz GPT is an exact replacement part in the event of an equipment failure during the survey. Therefore it is the government?s opinion that no other GPT supplier is acceptable for this purpose. All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal or quotation which shall be considered by this agency.
