- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. SPECIFICATIONS MARINE DIESEL MAIN ENGINES FOR WAREHOUSE The contractor shall furnish two Caterpillar Diesel Engines, left hand rotation as viewed from flywheel on engine. They shall be Model 3406E DITA heavy duty service (A rated) marine engines, keel cooled, rated at 450 HP continuous duty, 4-cycle. The engi nes shall have standard features for the marine industry and specified marine rated construction features. The specified features and installed accessories are as follows: 1. Air inlet system with aftercooler (sea water, corrosion resistant), air cleaner (Walker AirSep with crankcase ventilation), and turbocharger (jacket water cooled). 2. 24 volt electronic control system with electronic governing, cold mode start strategy programmable low idle, electronic diagnostics and fault logging, engine and transmission monitoring (speed, temperature, pressure), fuel/air ratio, and throttle posit ion sensor. I.M.O. emissions certification. 3. Cooling system to be provided with thermostat and housing, jacket water pump (gear driven), and expansion tank. 4. Exhaust system to be provided with manifold and turbocharger, watercooled, 6-inch, round flanged outlet, 90-degree dry exhaust elbow with flange for turbo mount. 5. Flywheel to be SAE No. 1, 113 teeth, flywheel housing to be SAE No. 1, SAE standard rotation. 6. Fuel system is to include fuel filter (located Right hand (RH) service on port and Left hand (LH) service on stbd), fuel transfer pump, and fuel priming pump. 7. Instrumentation panel is to include electric service meter, start/stop switch, emergency stop button, maintenance due light, diagnostic light, warning light, maintenance clear switch, 15A and 3A breakers, and start motor magnetic switch. 8. Lube system is to include crankcase breather, marine gear oil cooler, spin-on oil filter (RH service on port and LH service on starboard), deep sump oil pan, oil filler, dipstick (RH service on port and LH service on stbd), and gear-driven oil pump. 9. Engines shall have adjustable front support mounting system and Caterpillar vibration isolators. 10. Both engines shall have power take-off, hydraulic pump drive, SAE A, 11 tooth, spline drive crankshaft pulley, 11.5 inch two groove, .63 inch width. 11. Electronic shutdown protection system, 24 volt, energized to run. 12. Engines to be harmonic balanced, have vibration dampers, and lifting eyes. 13. Paint engines Caterpillar yellow with two part urethane paint. 14. Engines shall have variable engine wiring, upper rear-facing customer wiring connector and ECAP connection, and electronic installation kit (connectors, pins, sockets). 15. Engines shall have No alternator. 16. Engines shall have black crinkle coat valve covers and heavy duty damper guard. 17. Engines shall have air starters (150 BMP 8R) setup for 125 psi with bellows engaged bendix starter and solenoid (24VDC). 18. Caterpillar Marine Power Displays, two each for dual station, to include compatible gear oil pressure and temperature senders. 19. Caterpillar digital electronic pilot house instrument panel, single station per engine. Includes electric service meter, start/stop switch, emergency stop button, maintenance due light, diagnostic light, warning light, maintenance clear switch, 15A an d 3A breakers, start motor magnetic switch. 20. Provide Sturdy engine controls, dual stations, with gear lockout, engine synch, integrated gear control, and interconnect wiring harnesses with 60 feet of cable with connectors for pilothouse and 20 feet for engine room. Harness is to have 40 pin connector on one end with terminal strips shipped loose for customer termination of other end of wiring harness. Terminal strip is to include wiring and Deutsch connectors for quick connection of Marine Power Displays and start/stop wiring. All wires ar e to be labeled and customer wiring diagram supplied. 21. Fuel oil cooler. 22. Engine oil sump pump, manually operated. 23. Marine gear oil cooler sized for Twin Disc 5114-SC Marine Transmission. All required hoses, fittings, and adapters for plumb of Twin Disc MG-5114-SC Marine Transmission to engine gear oil cooler. 24. All required fluids for engine. 25. Caterpillar authorized start-up and PAR test. 26. Caterpillar standard warranty. 27. Caterpillar commercial application repower discount. 28. Four sets of parts and operators manuals. Delivery shall be made 7 weeks after award. The Contractor shall be responsible for all preparations, scheduling, and shipping of the two diesel engines to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Repair Yard, 232 Battleship Rd., Wilmington, North Carolina, 28401.
