- Description
- The Department of Defense Education Activity seeks Health Education curriculum materials in three core areas: Comprehensive Health Education (preK-12), Family Life and Human Sexuality Education (grades 4-12), and HIV/AIDS Education (grades 6-12. The contractor(s) shall submit the grade and course specific core curriculum materials. Comprehensive Health Education (grades pre-K through 12) shall address concept development in personal and community health; safety and injury prevention; nutrition and physical activity; mental health; and alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. A skills-based approached to concept development shall be emphasized through the application of health literacy skills of accessing information; intra- and interpersonal communications; analysis of influences; self-management; goal setting and decision making; and advocacy. Family Life and Human Sexuality Education (grades 4-12) shall address concept development in family life, human development, relationships, personal skills, preparation for parenthood, sexual health, sexually transmitted disease and pregnancy prevention. A skills-based approached to concept development shall be emphasized through the application of health literacy skills of accessing valid information; intra- and interpersonal communications; analysis of influences; self-management; responsible decision making; and advocacy for abstinence as healthful and safe for adolescents. HIV/AIDS Education (grades 6-12) shall address incidence, trends, prevention, treatment and control, as well as strategies for getting help. A skills-based approached to concept development shall be emphasized through the application of health literacy skills of accessing information; intra- and interpersonal communications; analysis of influences; self-management; responsible decision making; and advocacy for abstinence as healthful and safe for adolescents. It is anticipated that initial material requirement orders will apply to implementation training for Spring 2006 and full program material introduction into DoDEA schools in School Year(SY) 2006-2007.
