A firm fixed price contract type will be awarded for a base year and four one-year options, for a total of five years. The VSS provides a flying laboratory to conduct the pilot instruction curriculum of the USNTPS. AIES/Veridian (as Calspan Corporation) developed this capability and installed it on its Learjet-24. Market research has found AIES/Veridian to be the only company capable of providing the VSS for use in a military training environment and able to meet the mandatory training schedule of the USNTPS.
