Description
The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC command is seeking companies with experience in semi- automatic shotgun manufacturing: corporate knowledge, technical expertise, facilities, manufacturing equipment, and product acceptance test hardware. The government is seeking to test and potentially qualify a Commercial off the Shelf (COTS)/Non-Developmental Item (NDI) semi-automatic shotgun for use on the Army?s tactical EOD Talon Robot. The shotgun must be capable of being employed in a variety of conditions to perform functions organic to EOD units, (i.e.: disarmament of IEDs, door breaching, target neutralization). The semi- automatic shotgun must meet or exceed the following requirements: 1) 12 gauge chambered for 2?? to 3?? shells; 2) 5 round minimum capacity; 3) Semi- automatic; 4) Low Recoil; 5) Capable of firing shot, slugs and high velocity rounds (High velocity rounds; i.e.: PAN rounds); 6) Provide accessory attachment points (i.e.: aiming laser, etc); 7) Minimum effective range of 15 meters; 8) Weight limited to under 20 lbs fully loaded; 9) Maximum length of 24 inches 10) Capability to be remotely fired from robot control station 11) Operate in and withstand environmental conditions in which the robot may be employed. Interested firms should submit literature/brochures not exceeding twenty (20) pages describing product technical capabilities, design details and operational characteristics, and production capability (monthly sustainable production rate). Submissions shall also include a Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimate for the following ranges: 10-100 for R&D FY06 and 100-1000 for production for FY07 and FY08. The ROM will be used for planning purposes only. Potential contractors must have experience in the handling and processing of hazardous materials, if hazardous materials are used.
