Description

U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Center, Natick Contracting Division intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Instron Corporation of Canton, MA under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. Only one responsible source and no other suppli es or services will satisfy agency requirements as follows: Instrom Model 5889 Floor Mounted Materials Testing System, capacity 600kN (60,000 kg, 134,800 lb.). The Government anticipates awarding one (1) Firm-Fixed Price Order to Instron Corporation of Ca nton, MA. This order is being awarded to trade in and replace an existing Instron Model 1128 that is owned and operated by Natick Soldier Systems Center with the Instrom Model 5889. These systems share some common fixture geometry, which enable the contin ued use of many custom fixtures and load cells that have been developed over time. In addition, software and data files for the Instrom Model 5889 will be compatible with legacy data generated with the existing Instrom Model 1128. Installation of Instrom Model 5889 is included in the order. Delivery for this award will be F.O.B. Destination. The North American Industry Classification System identifier for this procurement is 334516; the Small Business Size Standard is 500 employees.
