- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for Qty: 1 EA Electron Beam Gun with the following specifications: Beam Current: Up to 50 mA or better Beam Spot Size: Up to 1 cm2 Working Distance Range: 50 to 200 mm Beam Energy: Up to 10 Kev Beam Control: Ability to deflect the beam so it can move in a circular motion Gun should have its own power supply Dimensions: Gun should be able to fit through 35 mm tube Mounting: Gun should be able to mount to 2 3/4 inch CFF Controls: Gun should allow beam focusing/defocusing The gun should have high speed pulsing ability The gun should have a design that allows for easy replacement of the cathode assembly. Should have a continuous duty cycle of no less than 5 minutes. Gun and power supply shall form a complete, turnkey system. NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Kimball Physics, Inc., Wilton, NH 03086-9742. Kimball Physics, Inc. is the only manufacturer that can provide an Electron Beam Gun that meets the minimum requirements. Kimball Physiscs is the only company that can provide readily accessible products off-the-shelf for application in support of the IRAD project. The Authority is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), Only One Responsible Source. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. This procurement will be processed using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. All contractual and technical questions must be in writing (e-mail or fax) to Sandra Harrell not later than March 3, 2005. Telephone questions will not be accepted. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on March 10, 2005. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
