Description

The work of this project consists of the following: Remove existing ogee weir and spillway sill from the spillway channel. Excavate the spillway channel bottom both upstream and downstream of the existing weir. Place a new concrete sill, a concret e pier and concrete abutment walls on both sides of the spillway channel. Install six Fusegates (approx. 24 wide x 9 high x 9-6 deep) on the new spillway sill and between the abutment walls and pier. Fusegates are freestanding concrete units installe d side-by side on a spillway sill to form a watertight barrier. Under extreme flood conditions the Fusegates rotate off the spillway to allow the passage of the maximum design flood. Associated with this work is reconstruction of a wetland upstream of th e new Fusegates and construction of a dike on the left side of the spillway channel. No construction will be permitted between March 15 to June 15 of any year.Work shall be completed within 330 calendar days after receipt of a Notice to Proceed. The estimated cost of this work is between $1,000,000.00 to $5,000,000.00. The solicitation shall be made available via the Internet on or about 3/10/05. No paper copies of the solicitation or any amendments subsequently issued will be available. Prospective bidders, subcontractors, and plan rooms are required to self-register their firm or office on the Internet to receive the solicitation. Registration instructions are available on the Internet at http://www.nae.usace.army.mil as well as the media by which the solicitation will be made available. Neither telephonic, mailed n or fax requests will be accepted. Those registering are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the mailing list. All responsible sources may submit a bid, which will be considered by the New England District.
