Description
This requirement is for approximately 180,000 each M2A1 Metal Box, NSN: 8140-00-960-1699, P/N: 7553296. In addition to this quantity, the solicitation will include a four-year evaluated option clause for up to 200 percent of the base year quantity. This item will be awarded as a Firm Fixed Price contract. Numbered Note 1 applies. First Article Acceptance Test is September 2005 with initial production of 30,000 each due January 2006 and approx 30,000 per month due thereafter. The contract will be a warded to the contractor who provides the best value to the Government, price and all other factors considered. The issuance date for the solicitation is on or about February 18, 2005. The M2A1 Metal Box measures approx 6.09 inches by 12.03 inches by 7.5 0 inches high. It consists of a steel box and lid that is attached by a quick release latch at one end and a quick release hinge at the other end. The box is seam welded and the lid is formed from a single piece of flat stock so that the container is wat ertight when latched. The portions of the latch, the hinge and handle components, are fastened to the container by spot welds. All components are made of steel except for the synthetic rubber gasket utilized for sealing. Prior to the assembly of the gas ket to the lid weldment and assembly of the lid weldment to the box weldment, the M2A1 weldments are cleaned, primed, and painted. After the paint is dry, the gasket is attached to the lid and the lid is assembled to the box. The M2A1 is used to transpor t and store small and medium caliber ammunition as well as other munitions.
