Description

The Mine Safety and Health Administration has a need to furnish two, one-day workshops on Interviewing for Accident Investigators. Location of Service: National Mine Health and Safety Academy, Beaver, West Virginia Overview: Training to include pre-training, training, and post-training in order to meet the needs of the participants and the goals of MSHA. A. Dates/time of Training: February 24th, 2005, 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM February 25th, 2005, 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM B. Participant Size: Approximately 30 people each day. Training C. Objectives for Participants: Understanding the rules of asking questions in interviewing. Acquiring more information from a reluctant talker. Confirming your questions have been answered. Knowing the difference between information and opinions. Avoiding the words that can cause defensiveness. Choosing the appropriate responses during an interview. D. Materials: Workbook (e-mail content to MSHA to print and distribute) Other learning tools. Vendor is to provide trainer and material content. Mine Safety and Health Administration will provide workbook (Content submitted by e-mail in advance to MSHA), facilities, refreshments and selection of participants
