- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items or services prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The Food and Drug Administration, CDER intends to award a non-competitive simplified acquisition contract to the Association of American Medical Colleges, 2450 N. Street, NW, Washington, D.C., for the preparation and management of a specialized conference. The anticipated date is January 6, 2005. The purpose of this procurement is to provide for the Drug Development Science: Obstacles and Opportunities for Academia, Industry, and Government Conference in accordance with a co-sponsorship agreement. The duties include the following: (1) Plan the program content and agenda for the two-day conference to be held on January 13-14, 2005. (2) Develop handouts and background material. (3) Develop the invitation list and distribute according to the guidelines developed by the co-sponsors. (4) Obtain meeting space with audio visual equipment and provide on-site logistics for approximately 50 attendees at the Fairmont Hotel, Washington, D.C. (5) Provide travel arrangements and hotels accommodations for out of town attendees in accordance with government travel regulations. (6) Provide a medical writer to prepare a written report of the proceedings. The FDA intends to partner with the AAMC because it is a non-profit association that works with its members to set a national agenda for medical education, biomedical research, and health care. They are have unique experience in partnering with the government agencies to provide the health care and education perspective for these conferences. This non-competitive award will be a made in accordance with FAR Part 12 Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A solicitation document is not available. However, all proposals received within 15 days after the date of publication of this synopsis, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
