Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico Virginia, has a need for a Non-Developmental, tactical bridge launcher. This launcher is required to be integrated on an M1A1 chassis and employ the current United States Marine Corps MLC-70 Bridge, providing wet and gap crossing capability to the Marine Air and Ground Task Force (MAGTF). A Request For Information (RFI) was released on 24 March 2004, a market survey was performed in March-May 2004, and a Capability Assessment was conducted from May-August 2004. The results of these three events revealed that a domestic capability to meet the United States Marine Corps' needs using a non-developmental launcher does not exist. However, the results of the Capability Assessment did indicate a foreign bridge launcher could meet the requirements. The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico Virginia intends to negotiate as part of a Foreign Comparative Test (FCT), with the following company: Alvis Vickers, Ltd. Scotswood Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE99 1BX, United Kingdom. This effort will procure (1) demonstration bridge launcher, test support, and logistics support enable a Foreign Comparative Test (FCT) to be conducted. Upon completion of the FCT, an option may be exercised to procure (2) additional bridge launchers for Production Representative Prototype vehicles to facilitate further testing. The program Approved Acquisition Objective (AAO) is to procure a total of 22 Bridge Systems for the operating forces. Point of contact at Marine Corps Systems Command is Mr. Terence J. McGinn, (Contracting Officer) at (703) 432-3717 or E-mail: mcginntj@mcsc.usmc.mil.
