Description

Project includes constructing a new Custer Hill Communication Center. The project includes demolition of a 3386 SF existing Communication Center Building 6240. The new reinforced masonry communication building will be 4,494 square feet of the first floor and 859 square feet for the vault under the building for atonal for 5,353 square feet. All work needs to be accomplished while the existing switch remains in operation. The new building will include a switch room, battery room, and mechanical room; e nclose the entrance to the cable vault, operator workspace, break and training room, latrine, and entry vestibule. Antiterrorism measures include an alarm system, access control system and structural reinforcement. Special foundations using drilled pier s are required because of the expansive soils. Supporting facilities include site work, replacement of utilities, storm drainage and relocating the parking lot a greater distance from the building. Force protection supporting facilities include exterior lighting, an access gate for the exclusion is, and vehicle barrier beams. Heating will be by self-contained gas fired units. Self-contained units will provide air conditioning and humidity controls.
