Description
The Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for support in the of the Optical Sciences Division with a comprehensive, integrated program of technical engineering, independent assessments, engineering analysis, and research activities pertaining to the development, measurement, and evaluation of new and existing airborne systems and avionics for Navy and Marine Corps aircraft into the future. The required engineering efforts and areas of technical investigation will be broad, but will emphasize the development of electronic systems and embedded software to facilitate the operation and optimum exploitation of visible, elecro-optic, and infrared (EO/IR) sensors and systems. The function of these systems will include, but may not be limited to, reconnaissance systems and equipment and platform survivability systems and equipment. Additional effort will be directed at identifying and evaluating what reconnaissance capabilities can be achieved with the addition of low-cost sensor suites and the use of other existing or planned sensors whose primary function is not reconnaissance. Initial candidate aircraft will include, but may not be limited to, the P-3, AV-8B, F/A-18, and JSF aircraft as well as unmanned experimental aircraft. The period of performance will be one (1) year with four (4) one-year options. SECRET Facility and Personnel clearances shall be required prior to award. NRL uses Electronic Commerce (EC) to issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and amendments to RFPs. Paper copies of the RFP will not be provided. All responsible sources may submit a proposal, which will be considered by the agency.
