Description
NAICS Code: 541613 The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency intends to participate with other federal agencies in a sole source procurement with World Technology Evaluation Center in Baltimore, Maryland, for a study for assessing the state of research in the field of network models of biological systems. The NAICS is 541613 and the size standard is $6 million. The duration of this study (including 2 workshops) is 18 months. It started on February 23, 2004 and the final written report is due by August 23, 2005. The purpose of this study includes identification of (1) promising research themes for the guidance of US and foreign researchers, (2) opportunities for collaboration between US and foregin engineers and scientists, and (3) identification of outstanding foreign research centers and researchers in the field. The study will be conducted by a US panel of six experts who organize study tours of the leading labs abroad (Europe this summer and Japan this winter) . Part of this study has been funded through an umbrella grant with the National Science Foundation with the participation of (NIH, NASA, DOE, DARPA, and NIST). EPA is funding only the final workshop on March 10 and 11, 2005. No solicitation is available. All interested parties must respond within 15 days of the date of this announcement. Interested parties shall (1) include information on the proposed services which clearly support the requirements outlined above and (2) provide itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible.
