Description
Statement of Work: Title: Starboard 01 WEATHER DECK Carry out the following work aboard USNS Mercy. 1. Provide labor and materials to accomplish an SSPC SP10 (near White Metal Blast) surface preparation. The areas are inaccessible to blast equipment, accomplish an SSPC SP 11 surface preparation. 2. Apply Two (2) full coats of Intertuf 262, of contrasting colors, at a 5 Mils dry. 3. Apply a stripe coat of Intertuf 262, between the first and second full coats of Intertuf 262 on all welds and edges, 4. Apply a coat of interguard EK 5040H on designated walkway areas, 5. Apply a full coat of 990HS white over entire deck. 6. Blasting and painting needed to be according to local Environment Rules and Regulations. The Life Boats, Life Raft and accessories such as winches, switch boxes, wire rope cables etc. to be protected from sand blast material, dust and paint. 7. All portholes and electrical fixtures, wiring and equipments needed to cover and protected from sand blast materials, dust and paint spray. 8. All the areas equipments or other objects disturbed or removed for sand blasting and painting need to bring back as original condition and surrounding areas cleaned and debris removed. 9. Area of deck is estimated at 9300 sq.ft, it extends from Fr. 44 to Fr. 104 on the stbd side of the vessel. 10. The sand blasting and painting will be done in three phases ie 1/3 rd at a time. 11. MSC will provide paint and paint representative. 12. The expected start date is on Sept. 27, 2004 and completed Oct 8, 2004. Vessel Availability: Presently, however, Contractor must always keep in mind that USNS Mercy is a Hospital Ship and with exception of periodic 2-3 week Voyage repair periods, must be able to sail away to action within five (5) days when so ordered by Navy.
